Black Pearl

Netherlands based custom house “Revatu Customs” has built a motorcycle powered by a functioning steam engine.  The Black Pearl actually works like a steam train, with the rear wheel driven by a huge crankshaft.

It took 8 months for René van Tuil to build the Black Pearl.

Porto Sippers

Oenophilia is selling the Porto Sippers with an integrated straw as being better for ports and liqueurs, allowing “your hand to warm the spirits as you sip through the stem.”

These are sippy cups for adults allowing you to enjoy the Port wine through a straw. A set of 4 will set you back $40 but just think of the childish fun you and your friends can have.

Uzi Tactical Pen

If you ever get caught behind enemy lines or kidnapped it would be nice to have a UZI Tactical Defender Pen.  The Uzi Tactical Pen turns a mere pen into a life saving tool.

The crown doubles as a glass breaker if you ever get trapped in your vehicle.  If things get really bad, you can always rely on the hidden handcuff key inside the top of this pen. This badass writing utensil is made of high-grade aircraft aluminum and writes upside down or under water.

CLIP - 3D printing technology

CLIP — Continuous Liquid Interface Production — is a breakthrough technology that grows parts instead of printing them layer by layer. UV light triggers photo polymerization and oxygen inhibits it. By carefully balancing the interaction of light and oxygen, CLIP continuously grows objects from a pool of resin.  CLIP is a chemical process that carefully balances light and oxygen to eliminate the mechanical steps and the layers.

Conventional 3D printers take several hours to print an object because they need to individually treat each new layer of material after it's put down so that the next layer can be put down on top of it.  The new method is much faster because it works continuously, instead of in layers, eliminating this step.

100 Years Later

100 years later, Antarctic explorers' huts look frozen in time

About a hundred years after Antarctic explorers set up house on the coldest, driest, and windiest place on Earth, conservators have restored four of these landmarks to look as they did in their former heydays.  The wooden dwellings of early explorers have been restored to look as they did during the first treks to the continent in the early 1900s, whiskey and all.
