USS Zumwalt

The USS Zumwalt (DDG-1000) is a guided missile destroyer of the United States Navy so stealthy that it'll go to sea with reflective material that can be hoisted to make it more visible to other ships.  Besides a shape designed to deflect enemy radar, it features a wave-piercing "tumblehome" hull, composite deckhouse, electric propulsion and new guns.

The Zumwalt new wave-piercing inverted bow and tumblehome hull configuration reduce her radar cross-section.   The ship is designed to look like a much smaller vessel on radar, and it lived up to its billing during recent builder trials.  Despite its size, the warship is 50 times harder to detect than current destroyers thanks to its angular shape and other design features, and its stealth could improve even more once testing equipment is removed, said Capt. James Downey, program manager.

The armament consists of 20 × MK 57 VLS modules, with 4 vertical launch cells in each module, 80 cells total. Each cell can hold one or more missiles, depending on the size of the missiles.  In addition it will have 2 × 155 mm Advanced Gun System with 600 rounds in automated store and an auxiliary store room with another 320 rounds for a total of 920.

Sea Hunter

The US Navy has a new unmanned sub hunter with enough fuel to make a slow journey around the world without once stopping for a refill.

The 132-foot vessel is powered by diesel engines and has a narrow hull stabilized by two outriggers and can survive in up to 30-foot seas. The sub hunter was designed to operate without any humans on board.   The ship can be operated remotely, similar to other drones in the Pentagon’s fleet of unmanned aircraft, ships and submarines. They also could eventually be operated in fleets and Defense officials say it is able to avoid crashing into other ships through advanced software and hardware that form automated “lookouts.”

Black Swan Superyacht

The super luxury Black Swan yacht by designer Timur Bozca is here to captivate those, who have the eye for style, luxury, technology and most importantly travelling by sea. This ‘concept’ yacht has been designed with state-of-the-art technology to redefine the terms experience, style and luxury, and to give its owner a supreme experience in travelling.

Using the powerful image of an arrow as inspiration, the designer tried to create an aerodynamic exterior that would give the yacht a distinctive look, while also improving efficiency. Among the features of the design is the inclusion of two balconies forward that are protected by glass railings, offering unobstructed views out to sea.

Dragonship 80

Pi Yachts, Ltd., recently revealed its plan to develop a fleet of stylish new sailing trimarans intended for the luxury sailing market. The Dragonship 80 will be 262 feet long (80m) and will be the company’s flagship product.  The ship will have three large airfoils reminiscent of boats that recently competed in the America’s Cup competition. Airfoils are supported by masts and rotate 360° clockwise and counterclockwise allowing quick and optimum positioning in the wind.

The side hulls extend the ship’s beam to 100 feet (60m) but can be folded up alongside the main hull when the ship reaches port. In addition to the captains cabin, the main haul will contain sleeping quarters for up to 12 guests. A bar, library, spa and gym are just a few of the amenities.

Amphibious Sub-Surface Watercraft

The Amphibious Sub-Surface Watercraft is a partially submersible watercraft that provides above and underwater viewing options, driving right off a trailer and into the water without the need for a crane, tender vessel, or dock. Ideal for exploring underwater environments without the need for a fully submersible craft, this one is composed of a buoyant above-water upper hull and two-person cockpit that provides 180º surface views and an inverted 1 1/2”-thick acrylic hemisphere below that provides two additional passengers underwater views.
Two 24-volt lithium battery banks provide 110 hours of water operation (up to 8 hours on land) before requiring a recharge using the included AC adapter.
